Welcome to our Four-year-old class!

Miss Sue

 Meet our four-year-old teacher
 Miss Sue!
Miss Sue has been a teacher at our school since 1996. Our school's reputation
as an excellent learning environment for our children has been built primarily as
a result of Miss Sue and her program. What else can we say except we love her
and we hope she stays forever!

Miss Robin

Meet our assistant teacher
Miss Robin!
Miss Robin has been our assistant teacher in both the three- and
four-year-old classes since 2005. She has three children who are
graduates of Fiddlers Lane Nursery School. She is wonderful with the
children and has been
an asset to our program.

The Goal of the Four-year-old Class

Our most important goals for your children are to foster a sense of self-worth, confidence, increasing independence, and a love for learning.  A positive self image is the key that unlocks a child’s curiosity and allows them the courage to ask questions, try new things, and experience a feeling of success.  We strive to develop growth in each child in the social, physical and cognitive realms.  Through creative age-appropriate activities, and interaction with peers and adults, your children will come to view school as a happy and secure place where learning is truly fun.  By laying a solid foundation we hope to open the door to your children's future as they look forward to Kindergarten and their continuing education with confidence and enthusiasm.

Four-Year-Old Curriculum

To see some of the activities our children participate in, please check out the "Our Year in Pictures"  page.

"Children learn what they live."  Our 4 year-old curriculum reflects the world around us.

  • The children discover, observe and learn about nature, seasons, friends and families, feelings, senses, holidays, animals, dinosaurs, pets, health, nutrition and cooking, community helpers, safety, seedsplants and flowers, insects, and more!  Our spring units are rich with discovery as the children germinate bean seeds, observe their growth into plants and journal their experience in hand drawn books...they observe caterpillars changing into butterflies and then release them back into nature...they engage in an incubation project as they patiently wait for chicks to hatch from eggs!
  • Social skills develop through play and interaction with their peers and teachers, learning to follow rules within a classroom environment, and through sharing...not only playthings, but ideas and activities.  The children learn responsibility, cooperation, and a sense of "teamwork" as they share in classroom jobs and acts of kindness with each other.
  • Language and listening skills will develop through songs, games, rhymes, fingerplays, stories, show-and-tell, and discussions.
  • Literature, music and movement, colors, shapes, letter/sound recognition, and pre-school level science, social studies and math activities are incorporated into the program continuously throughout the year in fun, creative, and engaging age-appropriate activities.
  • Coordination will increase as they color, paint, glue, learn to print with pencils, cut with scissors, and actively climb and play.
