The Parents' Role
As
a cooperative nursery school, we rely on our parents to participate and
be involved in the school in efforts to keep the school's costs down and
thus tuition down. Here are some of the possible ways you can be
involved in your child's educational experience here at FLNS.
- Parents
provide snack, juice and cups for the class as well as help with some
minimal clean up at the end of class on assigned snack days.
Snack days are assigned on a rotating basis and usually occur about 1
day every 7 weeks for the 3-year-old class and about 1 day every 4 or 5
weeks for the 4-year-old class. Moms or Dads (or grandmas or grandpas)
are encouraged, but not required, to stay and play on those days as
well.
- Parents
contribute to the efficient running of our school by serving on a
committee. Time and involvement is minimal. Those wishing to become
more involved may chair a committee, volunteer to be a member of the
board of directors, or serve as a class representative.
- Parents participate in one assigned clean-up day per year (approximately 2 hours and usually on a Saturday).
- Parents help keep tuition costs down
by participating in the school's fund raising events. However, if
you wish to not participate in fundraising a buyout option is also
offered.
- Parents are encouraged to
attend previously announced board meetings. As a school that is
run by parents, the board depends on our parents' ideas and feed
back to make our school run efficiently and keep our families
happy.
